PROGRAM PROFILE
1. General Information
Our department started education activities within Anadolu University Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 1982-1983 academic year. Since 1993, it has been continuing its education in Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Science and Letters. There are 6 departments in our department: Botany, General Biology, Hydrobiology, Molecular Biology, Basic and Industrial Microbiology and Zoology.
The department offers four-year undergraduate education, as well as postgraduate and doctoral programs. Biology information is given theoretically and practically to undergraduate students. The students are given basic Biology education in the first two semesters, and they are given the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills in the following semesters in accordance with their post-graduate study goals (Biodiversity and Environment, Industrial Biology, Health Biology) with the elective courses other than compulsory courses and laboratories. Existing research laboratories continue to evolve in parallel with the technology with the high level research conducted by our expert faculty members trained in related fields. Our undergraduate and graduate students have the opportunity to work in research laboratories during their thesis studies.
The language of education is Turkish.

General admission requirements for Turkish and foreign students apply to start the program.
5. Recognition of Previous Learning
Recognition of previous formal learning, vertical, horizontal and university transitions occur within the scope of Turkish Higher Education institutions "TRANSFER BETWEEN PROGRAMS IN THE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS, DOUBLE MAJOR, SIDE BRANCH AND INSTITUTIONS" IN THE BASIS OF CREDIT TRANSFERS OF INSTITUTIONS " .
At the beginning of each academic semester exam exemptions for some computer and foreign language courses outside the scope of certification based on formal educational institutions in Turkey or the recognition of experience-based learning are organized.
6. Qualification Requirements and Rules
The student must have completed all the courses in the program and completed their internship, and have no FF, DZ or YZ grades. In this program, the student must provide a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and the GPA must be at least 2.00 out of 4.00.
7. Program Profile (Purpose)
Biology Program Teaching Objectives:
1. Scientific methods to analyze the structure, function, organization and diversity of living things and their interactions between themselves and their environment,
2. Can research, develop, plan, execute, control, analyze and present a business related to the field,
3. Preferred by the sectors related to knowledge, skills and equipment,
4. Is prone to establishing interdisciplinary relationships and teamwork, open to communication and development, entrepreneurial and contemporary qualities,
5. Adopting the importance of lifelong learning, absorbing ethical values, sensitive to environmental and social problems,
6. To train biologists who are conscious of biodiversity, occupational health and safety, environmental protection and quality requirements.
The main goal of the Biology Department; Biology graduates who have the knowledge and skills to define, explain, apply, decide, teach and learn the basic principles of the six departments (Botanical, General Biology, Hydrobiology, Molecular Biology, Basic and Industrial Microbiology, Zoology) who have all the powers and responsibilities of the law. The Department of Biology conducts its internal and external activities and duties through the deanery and the top organization as a supreme institution within the framework of the vision it draws.
Biology Department educates its students to be employed in many fields where biology is used. Stakeholders that Biology Department interacts and wants to interact with in various institutions and organizations affiliated to ministries, especially TÜBİTAK, DPT, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Science Industry and Technology, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs. Universities, Research Institutions, Graduate, graduate and Turkey can be listed as Biologists Association.
Our department tries to teach its students in the best way with its research staff and advanced laboratory infrastructure. It provides a positive atmosphere for students to learn and research with the projects carried out in our department. It offers students who are willing and successful to participate in research in research laboratories. It directs its students to do postgraduate studies and supports academics and educates academicians.
8. Program Qualifications
1. Applies the knowledge in the field of basic sciences to processes related to living things and ecosystems.
2. Associates the structure and organization of representative samples of biological diversity elements and their functions.
3. Group biological diversity elements according to their similarities and differences and prioritize conservation.
4. Examines the interactions of living things with their environment.
5. Define living and environmental problems and make suggestions for its solution.
6. Can produce alternatives for biological based product development and production processes.
7. Competent to work in sectors using modern methods and equipment necessary for field applications.
8. Gives priority to health and environmental safety in processes related to sustainable development.
9. It gives importance to occupational health and safety.
10. Prone to team work.
11. Guides science and scientific method and has professional ethics awareness.
12. Can communicate effectively.
13. Knows at least one foreign language in a level to follow the information.
14. Can use information technologies effectively as part of his life.
15. Contributes to projects related to the field, with a sense of social responsibility, taking into account the national priorities.

9. Employment Opportunities for Graduates
Our graduates are in public institutions and organizations (Ministry of Health, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs), private schools, classrooms, research institutions, laboratories, food industry, in medical and agrochemical industry, national parks; They perform duties such as Biologist, Teacher, Technical Staff, Researcher (R&D), Production, Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Sales Marketing staff.
10. Transition to High Level Programs
Candidates who successfully complete their undergraduate education can study in their own fields or in related fields in Postgraduate programs provided that they have valid scores from ALES or equivalent exams and have sufficient foreign language knowledge.

15. Department / Program Opportunities
There are 36 full-time professors in our department, including 13 professors, 8 associate professors, 4 doctor lecturers, 1 lecturer, 10 research assistants. Our full-time faculty members have sufficient academic level to sustain the program successfully.
It has a total area of 906 m2 with the General Biology, Botanical and Zooology Student Laboratories and Research Laboratories with 338 m2 usage area in the department.
Research Laboratories; Anaerobic Culture, Biotechnology, Tissue Culture, Ecogenetics, Industrial Microbiology, Fermentation, Fungi Culture, Food Microbiology, Herbarium, Hydrobiology, Cellular Research, Malacology, Molecular Biology, Palinology, Aquaculture, Toxicology, Venom Research, Zootaxydermia.
In addition, there are 194 m2 common area and 1045 m2 circulation area.
