DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY STUDENT INTERNSHIP DIRECTIVE FIRST PART (Rest, Goal, Scope, Definitions)

Rest

Article  1 - This Directive was prepared on the basis of the article of Associate, Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations of Eskişehir Osmangazi University, which came into force after it was published in the Official news paper numbered 23044, on 09.07.1997.

Goal

Article 2- This Directive reinforces the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired by students of Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Science and Letters, Biology Department through their observation and application in academic, sectoral or industrial establishments, organizational structure, production process and new technologies, personal and It regulates the basic principles of compulsory internships targeting their development in issues such as corporate relations, occupational safety, ethical rules, working discipline, self-confidence, self-expression, teamwork.

Scope

Article  3 - This Directive covers the principles and activities related to the internships to be carried out at domestic or abroad by students enrolled in Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Science and Literature, Department of Biology in the academic year 2012-2013.

Definitions

Article 4 - In this Directive;

a. Directive: Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology, Student Internship Directive,

b. Internship Commission: The commission established within Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology for the organization and control of internship-related activities,

c. Department: Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology,

d. Faculty: Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Science and Letters, to. Board of Directors: Faculty of Arts and Sciences Faculty Board of Directors,

f. University: Refers to Eskişehir Osmangazi University.

SECOND PART

Internship Commission, Internship Documents

Internship commision

Article  5- A commission is formed within the department for the organization and control of the students' internship-related activities. The Department Internship Committee is assigned by the Head of the Department for 3 years. The internship commission consists of at least three teaching staff, one of which is the chairman. Regarding the students' internship activities;

a. To determine and announce the principles regarding the internship,

b. To engage in activities that will enable the students who will do the internship to comprehend the internship process,

c. Providing accessibility to information, documents, forms and announcements related to the internship process,

d. To evaluate the students' internship application in terms of the subject of the internship and the suitability of the place, to.

e. To coordinate with the student's advisor to supervise the internship education when necessary,

 

f. To examine students' internship files and to evaluate and announce their success,

g. The Department performs the duties of establishing communication and agreement ground with the relevant institutions to be trained in coordination with the Communication with Stakeholders Commission.

Documents Related to Internship

Article 6 - I. and II. Class Students who have successfully completed their class courses and whose GPA is above 2.00 can apply for internship from the end of the fourth semester. The students are required to prepare the following documents from the beginning of the internship to the end of the internship and to forward them to the relevant person / units.

a. Internship Application Form 1: It is an application form which will be filled in by the students and will be approved by the institution / institution they want to do internship after they are approved by the Dean's Office.

b. Internship Application Form 2: It is an application form that will be filled in by the student and given to the Head of Department and then will be examined by the internship commission and sent to the Dean's Office by the Department Head.

c. Internship Evaluation and Registration Receipt: It is a standard document that evaluates the work done by the internship officer for each trainee during the internship according to various criteria and indicates whether the student is successful at the end of the internship.

d. Internship Book: It is the book where the students write the activities performed during the internship in detail, which is approved by the workplace internship officer and should be brought to the internship commission by the student.

e. Internship Instruction: This document is prepared to contain the details of internship applications.


THIRD PART

Internship Duration, Internship Places, Attendance Requirement, Internship Exemption, Internship Application Principles

Internship Duration

Article  7 – Students determine their internship duration and time according to the following rules:

a. The total internship period of students during their undergraduate education is at least 20 working days. This period can be completed in 2 parts, at least 10 days. However, internships lasting less than 10 days are not accepted. A student who cannot complete the internship day must repeat the internship.

b. The internship period cannot be within the education period, including the final exams.

c. The internship done on public holidays is not included in the total internship duration. On the other hand, if the institution / organization is working, Saturdays and Sundays are also accepted as working days. However, this situation should be approved by the institution / organization in the internship report to be prepared. Otherwise, it is subtracted from the total internship period on Saturdays and Sundays and the internship is canceled if the total internship period cannot be completed.


Internship Places

Article  8 –

a. Students can do internships in institutions / organizations that are active in the field of biology at home or abroad and are approved by the Internship Commission. The responsibility of finding an appropriate internship rests entirely with the student. Internship quotas coming from institutions / organizations and reserved for department students are announced to department students.

b. Students who want to do an internship abroad can perform their internship within the scope of ERASMUS program, or they can do internship in the institutions / organizations they find as a result of their own initiatives, provided that they receive the written approval of the Department Internship Committee.

c. A student who will be doing an internship abroad must meet his health and work security insurance.

d. No student can do an internship in the institution / organization found by his own initiative without the approval of the Internship Committee.

 

e. Students cannot change their internship place after starting the internship

f. In case of strike and lockout application, earthquake, fire and flood in the internship institutions/institutions, students can continue their internships in other institutions/organizations provided that they get the approval of the Internship Commission.

g. Students may not inform others about the product and services of the institutions/organizations in which they do an internship, and participate in union activities.

h. Students are obliged to follow the discipline and security rules of the institution/organization where they do an internship. For the issues not mentioned here, “Internship Principles of Students in Ministries and Ministerial Institutions” shall be complied with in the relations of students with the institution/institution.

i. Pursuant to article 5 / b of the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law No. 5510, students who are subjected to compulsory internship should receive “Work Accident and Occupational Disease Insurance”. The student's insurance will be deposited for a total of 20 days. For students who do more than this period, the insurance of additional days can be paid by themselves or the employer.

 

Compulsory Attendance

Article 9 - It is mandatory to continue the internship. Days that cannot be continued due to excuses mentioned in Associate Degree, Undergraduate Education, and Examination Regulations must be compensated.

Internship Exemption

Article 10 - Students who come to the department through horizontal or vertical transfer can request an exemption from the Department Internship Committee, on condition that they document their internships at the place they came from. For this, students can apply to the Head of Department with a petition until the end of the first month of the first semester they enroll at the University. The internship commission can evaluate and accept/reject internships in terms of the suitability of the subject and duration.

Internship Application Principles

Article 11

a. Completing the internship application form 1 and 2 means that the student to do the internship declared that they have read the Internship Directive.

b. The student is responsible for starting, maintaining and completing the internship process in accordance with the Biology Department Student Internship Process Flow Chart.

 

c. The students who will do an internship give the Internship Evaluation and Registration Slip to the authority of the internship unit. At the end of the internship, this form is sent to the relevant department in an envelope with a closed mouth and a company seal after it is filled and approved by the authorized person. Forms without institution stamp and approval are not considered in the evaluation.

d. The studies carried out during the internship are regularly entered into the Internship Book by the student and at the end of the internship, the title of the authorized person at the internship place is indicated and approved by the stamp and signature of the concerned.

e. Internship book and Internship Evaluation and Registration Slip without signature, stamp and date, with erasure, scrapings and improper corrections are not accepted.

FOURTH PART

Monitoring and Evaluation of Internship

Monitoring the Internship

Article 12 -The members of the internship commission can make the necessary audits for the conduct of the internship with the purpose and rules of the internship, if necessary, or they can contact the institution/institution where the internship is carried out and obtain information about the student doing the internship and that way they can follow up the students.

Evaluation of Internship

Article 13 -

a. The student who will enroll in the internship course must complete a total of 20 days of internship. Students who have not completed the internship period cannot register for the internship course. If he/she takes it, he/she is considered unsuccessful in the internship course. Only a student who has almost graduated can register for an internship course before completing the internship period in the last semester. These learners should submit their internship documents to the head of the department until the end of the summer school following the latest.

The student is fully responsible for the follow-up and registration available period of the internship periods.

b. After completing the internship period, a student enrolls in the internship course in the following semester and submits the internship documents (Internship Book and Internship Evaluation and Registration Slip) approved by the unit authority he/she has done in the closed envelope within 2 weeks at the latest as of the beginning of the same semester. The internship of students who submit their reports after the specified date is not accepted.

c. Internship reports are evaluated by the internship commission according to the following criteria.

I. The suitability of the subject and scope of the internship study,

ii. Technical information about the internship institution / organization and the adequacy of the introduction of the internship place,

iii. The adequacy of the written and visual material regarding the studies and observations made during the internship,

iv. The suitability of the internship book in terms of format,

vi. Whether the narratives in the internship book are presented according to individual observations and practices,

vi. Internship Evaluation and Registry Voucher data filled by the internship institution / organization,

d. The commission may ask the student for an oral presentation of the internship studies during the evaluation phase.

e. The internship commission examines the documents submitted and evaluates the student's internship with one of the "acceptance", "rejection" or "missing" options. It is possible to “accept” the completion of the missing part of the internship, which is considered as missing. Thus, the student is evaluated as sufficient / inadequate. In order for the student to be considered successful in the internship, it is obligated to be successful according to the Internship Evaluation and Registration Slip to be filled in by the institutions/organizations.

f. . All documents related to the internship are delivered to the department chair to be kept in the department archive after the internship evaluation meeting.

FIFTH PART

Other Provisions, Enforcement, Execution

Force

Article 14 - This Directive takes effect on the date of approval by the Senate of Eskişehir Osmangazi University.

Executive

Article 15 - This directive is executed by the Rector of Eskişehir Osmangazi University.
